A major credibility crisis has hit a nationwide survey released on Monday, October 20, 2025, by the research group Academics and Professionals, after leaked WhatsApp messages exposed how the group’s lead researcher, Dr. Evans Duah, allegedly orchestrated the poll to favour New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
The emergence of the leaked chats reveals that the survey was not an independent academic exercise, as earlier portrayed, but rather a carefully coordinated political propaganda effort designed to project Kennedy Agyapong as the frontrunner in the party’s January 31, 2025, presidential primaries.
The messages, retrieved from a WhatsApp group named “50K Army ED4K with ED4K” — believed to stand for “Dr. Evans Duah for Kennedy”, reveal how the lead researcher personally participated in orchestrating the poll’s release and media amplification to create a favourable narrative for Mr. Agyapong.
In one of the leaked exchanges, Dr. Duah reportedly told members of the group, “I am coming out tomorrow 5pm and 7pm respectively. Be ready,” referring to the planned release of the report on social media and to the press. Following the publication of the survey on Facebook, he returned to the group with a direct instruction: “Like, comment and share massively.”
Further leaked messages show Dr. Duah inviting the group’s members to his Asokwa office in Kumasi to discuss the survey’s details and to plan coordinated publicity efforts across digital platforms.
Shameful
Reacting to the development, a Deputy Spokesperson to the former Vice-President, Dr. Ekua Amoakoh, described the survey released by Academics and Professionals as a “shameful propaganda tool” designed to mislead the public and distort the internal democratic processes of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Dr. Amoakoh said the revelations have vindicated the Bawumia Campaign’s long-held view that some of the so-called polls circulating within the party were nothing more than “politically manufactured propaganda pieces.” She argued that the leaked messages clearly show that the poll’s findings were not the result of rigorous academic methodology but rather the outcome of a partisan strategy to create false momentum for Mr. Agyapong.
“This so-called research has now been exposed for what it truly is — a fabricated political project designed to deceive delegates and manipulate public opinion. The Bawumia Campaign Team remains focused on facts, data, and the real sentiments of delegates across the country, not on orchestrated PR gimmicks,” he stressed
Bawumia to lead
She emphasised that the growing wave of endorsements, grassroots mobilisation, and the former Vice-President’s track record in governance continue to position him as the clear choice to lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections. She noted that Dr. Bawumia’s message of digital transformation, economic inclusiveness, and modernised governance resonates strongly with both delegates and ordinary Ghanaians who see in him a leader capable of driving Ghana’s next phase of development.
“Dr. Bawumia’s strength lies in his record, his vision, and his unmatched connection with the grassroots. From the north to the south, delegates see in him a unifier, a reformer, and a leader who understands both the economy and the everyday struggles of Ghanaians. The primaries will be won not through deception, but through credibility, performance, and trust, and that is where Dr. Bawumia stands tall,” she further stated.
Dr. Amoakoh also called on delegates and the general public to be vigilant and discerning in the face of manipulated data and politically driven surveys. She urged the media to exercise professionalism by verifying research claims before amplifying them.
