The Gyaasehene of Jasikan, Nana Osei Boakye IV, has heaped tons of praises on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for undertaking several road projects in his traditional area.
“When our President declared 2020 ‘The Year of Roads’, we had the assurance that he would deliver, and that Buem will not be left out. We are witnessing the ongoing road projects: Hohoe-Jasikan road; Jasikan-Worawora road; Jasikan-Bodada road; Jasikan-Kadjebi-Pepesu road; and Jasikan town roads.
“It is unprecedented that Buem has all these going on in one single year. This is, indeed, credit to our hardworking President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Thank you so much Nana, we appreciate you,” he said.
The Gyaasehene of Jasikan said this when President Akufo-Addo visited Jasikan to inspect ongoing work on the Jasikan-Dodo Pepesu road.
Addressing a durbar of chiefs at Jasikan, Nana Osei Boakye IV, thanked President Akufo-Addo for seeing to the creation of Oti Region, describing him as “the courageous Ghanaian Head of State to make that dream a reality,” adding: “Nana, we shall forever remain grateful.”
“You have carved a special name for yourself and your country in world history. No doubt, you continue to draw applause from within and outside Ghana. We congratulate you on this achievement, Nana,” he said.
Visible impact
According to the chief, policies such as Free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development, 1-District-1-Factory, 1-Village-1-Dam, 1-Constituency-1-Ambulance, restoration of the payment of allowances to teacher and nursing trainees all yielding great results that are visible for all to see.
“Indeed, God has blessed you with a head full of wisdom and a heart of courage to deliver on his direction to save this country from going down the line of destruction,” he added.
Kete Krachi-Dodiokope road
Meanwhile, the President yesterday commissioned the 64-kilometre Kete Krachi-Dodiokope road project in the newly created Oti Region.
This project was undertaken in three phases by Messrs First Sky Limited, at a total cost of GHC156 million, and was funded by the Ghana Cocoa Board, with the Ghana Highway Authority serving as the implementing agency and supervising consultant.
The project was originally programmed for completion in 24 calendar months at a combined contract sum of GHC176.5 million. However, to ensure value for money, the Ministry of Roads and Highways, acting through the Ghana Highway Authority, reengineered the project, resulting in savings of some GHC20 million.
President Akufo-Addo, as part of the tour, inspected work on the Nkonya Wrumpong– Kwamikrom road, which has been awarded to Messrs First Sky Construction Gh. Ltd at a contract sum of GHC 58.8 million. It is due to be completed in 24 calendar months, on April 30, 2022.
