Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia has said that the flagbearer of the opposition NDC, John Dramani Mhama, is no contest for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo when it comes to governing a nation.
He is thus optimistic that the President will, on any day, beat Mr Mahama in terms of records and performance.
According to Dr Bawumia, President Akufo-Addo in his first term in office has outperformed John Dramani Mahama and the NDC’s eight years in office.
Commissioning the first ever Nursing Training College at Nkanchina, in the Kpandai District of the Northern Region, the Vice-President reiterated his challenge to the NDC and Mr Mahama to point out projects they have embarked on in the area that are superior to that of the NPP.
“The commissioning of this Nursing Training College is a testament of the hard work of Akufo-Addo. Your MP is doing well. Many projects are being undertaken under this administration. Ask the NDC to list the projects [they carried out] when they were in power. Akufo-Addo has proven his supremacy over Mahama because of the job he has done. He will always lose in any contest with Akufo-Addo,” he said.
Resourcing tertiary institutions
According to the Vice-President, the NPP government is committed to providing tertiary institutions in the country with the needed resources to enable beneficiaries of the Free Senior High School programme further their education in their chosen careers.
To this end, he appealed to residents of Kpandai to vote for the NPP in the December 7 polls, saying that remains the only alternative to better develop the country.
“Akufo-Addo has a vision for this country, and I would urge you to vote for him to do more for you. The records speak for themselves, and I am sure you have all seen what has happened within four years the NPP has been in power,” he added.
Appreciation
Meanwhile, the chiefs and people of Nawuri and Nchumuru Traditional Areas have hailed President Akufo-Addo for honouring his campaign promises to them.
The chiefs could not hide their joy at the numerous developmental projects embarked upon by the current administration, with some at various advanced stages of completion.
“During the visit of His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, last year, he made a number of refreshing promises to us. As we speak today, some of the promises have been delivered and others are being delivered,” they said.
Some of the promises, according to the chiefs, include extending electricity to Nkanchina; upgrading of the Kpandai-Salaga road; upgrading of the Kpandai-Nkanchina, road among others.
Appeal
The chiefs, however, appealed to the President to help elevate the Nawuiwura and Nanjuwura stools into a paramountcy status, indicating that process had already started.
“Our single most pressing request as people of this district as of now is the elevation of the Nawuiwura and Nanjuwura stools to paramountcy status. We have kick-started the processes. However, it is our hope that when the need arises, we can rely on your good self and the government to facilitate the process for us,” they appealed.
