The National Women’s Wing of the governing NPP has commenced a 14-day fasting and prayers for the party ahead of the December 7 general election.
The fasting and prayers, which commenced yesterday, is on the theme “Any weapon formed against our President shall be in vain.”
The National Women Organiser of the party, Kate Gyamfua, said the move is to pray for protection for the President, NPP MPs and parliamentary candidates and the safety of all members of the party who are doing different programmes for the party, including campaigning.
The party will also use the programme to pray for Ghanaians as the year nears an end.
Exodus 14, Psalm 35 and Jeremiah 1: 19 have been selected as bible quotations to support the exercise.
Members of the party have been entreated to use the bible quotations in their daily prayers for the 14 days programme.
Greater Accra campaign
Meanwhile, the party’s women’s wing, since last week, has been touring some constituencies in the Greater Accra Region to canvass for votes.
As part of the tour, the National Women Organiser visited Anyaa Sowutuom and Krowor constituencies, Okaishie Market as well as the Odododioodoo constituency.
The women organiser, accompanied by other women within the party, used the tour to preach the good works of the NPP and how women have been the ultimate beneficiaries of the policies implemented by the Akufo-Addo government.
Meeting with kayayei
The women’s wing on Sunday also met with various groups of head porters and their leaders at Rawlings Park, in Accra Central.
The meeting was to propagate the need for the head potters to rally behind the NPP which has their interest at heart.
About 3,000 head porters attended the meeting. The leadership of the head porters at the end of the meeting declared their support for the governing party.
