Beatrice Owarewa Siaw, a philanthropist and aspiring parliamentary candidate for Mampong
Prominent businesswoman and philanthropist, Beatrice Owarewa Siaw, has set out an ambitious vision to transform the Asante Mampong constituency through industrialisation, youth empowerment, and renewed political engagement, as she signals her intention to contest for parliamentary leadership in the area.
Speaking to the media over the weekend about her intention to contest the Asante Mampong parliamentary seat on the ticket of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Siaw, popularly known as B.O.S, indicated that her frequent interactions with residents of Asante Mampong had revealed a strong desire for change. She explained that whenever she walked through the streets of the constituency, many constituents approached her and urged her to step forward and take up a leadership role, insisting that the area was ready for transformation and new direction.
Decision
She noted that her decision to enter the political space had been influenced not only by public calls but also by encouragement from close associates and family members who believed she could make a meaningful difference. According to her, the situation in Mampong, particularly among the youth, required urgent attention, as many young people appeared idle and lacked opportunities for growth and advancement.
Madam Siaw stated that her vision for the constituency was centred on job creation through industrial development. She disclosed that she intended to establish two factories in Asante Mampong, explaining that one would focus on manufacturing, similar to existing industrial models, while the other would specialise in vegetable packaging. She stressed that such initiatives would create employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity within the constituency.
Ambition
Addressing her political ambition, she acknowledged that she would be contesting the incumbent Member of Parliament, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, who has held the seat for three consecutive terms. She observed that leadership transitions are a natural part of democratic governance, adding that while the contest would not be easy, she remained confident that victory was achievable.
On the challenges faced by women in politics, Madam Siaw conceded that female candidates are often subjected to criticism and personal attacks. However, she emphasised that she was prepared to rise above such challenges, noting that she intended to develop resilience and remain focused on the broader goal of securing development for the people of Mampong. She added that not all criticisms would be valid, and as such, her focus would remain on delivering results rather than responding to negativity.
She also indicated that her potential election as parliamentary candidate and Member of Parliament would position her to attract investment and lobby for increased development projects in the constituency. In her view, effective leadership would open doors for funding and infrastructure development that could significantly improve the livelihoods of residents.
Mobilisation
Touching on party mobilisation, Madam Siaw urged eligible members and supporters of the NPP to actively participate in the ongoing registration exercise. She encouraged individuals not to underestimate the value of their vote, stressing that every single vote counted in shaping the future of the party and the country. She also expressed her willingness to support committed individuals who were unable to afford registration dues.
Commenting on the party’s current state, she acknowledged concerns about its strength following recent electoral setbacks but maintained that the party was undergoing reorganisation and renewal. She expressed confidence in the leadership of flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as a capable leader with a strong track record who could steer the country toward greater progress.
Madam Siaw further reaffirmed her commitment to unity within the party and development for the constituency, stating that her focus remained on delivering tangible change and restoring hope among the people of Asante Mampong.
