He made this disclosure when he led a delegation from CODA, together with his Deputy CEO in charge of Mobilisation and Private Partnership, Emmanuel Affram Anim, on Monday to visit the Saudi Ambassador.
The visit formed part of the Authority’s agenda in attracting new partners to facilitate its public-private partnership agenda to achieve its development goals.
Mr Ahmed Shaib, in his interaction with the Ambassador, elaborated on the core mandates of the Authority as well as its achievement since inception. According to him, CODA implements its projects and programmes under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).
“The Authority has been able to implement several infrastructure projects, like schools, hospitals, markets, drains, bridges, as well as some social intervention programmes like the Coda Credit Union, Coda Drive, Coda Clean Beach Campaign,” he said.
The CEO further explained that the CODA Clean Beach Campaign is to ensure that the beach communities are cleaner at all times, saying “the clean beach initiative will also create job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youth as well as boost tourism in the country”.
Appeal
He appealed to the Ambassador to assist the Authority in attracting investors for the CODA Sea Bus initiative, which is targeted at reducing transportation challenges in the country. He also appealed to the Saudi Fund for Development to partner with the Authority to supplement its socio-economic development within the coastal zone.
Ambassador Al- Rogi, for his part, expressed his excitement at the visit. He assured the CEO of his support, saying the Saudi Kingdom, through the Saudi Fund for Development, is already supporting some developmental projects like education, health, food aid among others. He added that the Kingdom is also constructing a hospital for the people of Aburi.
He further mentioned that the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, which is an initiative under the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is working to help alleviate human suffering and ensure that target communities are given the opportunity to live healthy and dignified lives.
He assured the CEO of his recommendation of the Authority to the Centre to assist in its many projects aimed at alleviating poverty within the coastal zone.
