The General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has called on media personalities in the country, especially in the Ashanti region, to join him to build a new relationship toward national development.
He said the media play a crucial role in nation building, adding “this new relationship is aimed at mutually exploring avenues that could ensure the rapid development of the country”.
Speaking to the media over the weekend, the NPP General Secretary said: “The crucial roles played by the media cannot be underestimated.”
“I do not joke or make trivial role of the media because apart from information dissemination efforts you undertake, you are best placed to pick feedback from citizens to government so that the latter could use same to plan for the good of the people,” he emphasised.
Mr Frimpong Koduah further pleaded with the media to forgive the NPP or any person who may have wronged them in their line of duty and work together.
According to him, there is the need to chart a new path where the party would strongly collaborate and consult the media on issues of mutual interest.
Support
The NPP scribe also disclosed plans by his outfit to court the media’s support to collectively undertake ventures that would ensure the development of the NPP, and Ghana as a whole.
“I, as well as many of my executives are new in the positions God graciously gave us through the delegates of our party during the national elections. And we intend to chart a new path with the media so that together, we can collaborate to serve the people of our party and Ghana well,” the NPP General Secretary reiterated.
On his part, the National Organiser of the party, Henry Nana Boakye, stressed the importance of building a healthy relationship with the media since the media served as a link between government and the public.
The acting CEO of Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Kofi Baah Agyekum, asked for a better relationship between the media and the NPP. The relationship, he explained, will serve the best interest of both parties because of the varied opportunities they would have to explore to their advantage.
