es the welfare of deprived and undeserved communities, has organised a Christmas party for over 1,000 children across Afadzato South district in the Volta region.
The event, which cemented a decade old ceremony, was aimed at putting smiles on the faces of children in the catchment area of the Foundation. The fun filled Christmas party treated the children to a variety of mouthwatering dishes and drinks.
Some activities such as face painting, football gala, sack racing, apple eating among others were part of the event.
The Executive Director of the Foundation, Cecilia Fiaka, explained that the Nneka Christmas party seeks to foster a communal identity of celebrating and consolidating gains during the yuletide.
“The joy of spending time, giving love, having fun activities, sharing gifts like clothing, shoes, storybooks and especially, food and drinks was not a thing the Foundation could do away with. The event has, thus, become a tradition as a bottle of soft drink means a lot to children during Christmas in the communities we work in,” she stated.
The initiative
She further indicated that the initiative has become an integral part of the Nneka Youth Foundation and over 1,500 Children are reached yearly in one of the districts the Foundation chooses.
Mrs Fiaka recounted that since 2012, the Foundation had organized 14 Christmas Parties to put smiles on the faces of children; an event that has always been characterized by fun, excitement, fraternization and sometimes interactions with sponsors.
“Nneka Christmas Party, over the past 10 years, saw thousands of beneficiaries from the regions we work feted, fed, gifted with clothes, school inputs, and greatly entertained. This celebration has always been made possible through support from various individuals and organizations,” she noted.
The Executive Director also advised the children on good behaviour and healthy living. Mrs Fiaka enjoined corporate and other private entities to be part of the putting a lasting smile on the faces of “Africa one child at a time,” initiative.
Mrs Cecilia Fiaka expressed appreciation to the volunteers and other supporters who made the event successful.
The Afadjato South District Chief Executive, James Etornam Flolu, could not hold it but to join the fun games by competing in the sack race.
He urged the children to be of good character and learn hard in school to become useful citizens in the future.
Some community leaders and some mothers could not resist but grace the occasion with their presence.

Ten years of gladdening hearts and putting smiles on the faces of children during Christmas. A time children yearn for and a time Directors of Education, District Chief Executives, Chiefs, Queen mothers and Community leaders get the platform to interact with their children.
It all started in 2012 when Nneka Youth Foundation saw the need to go back to make the children of Afadjato South feel loved. Fortunately, some organisations and individuals felt opportune to support this important course.
