An aspiring parliamentary candidate in the Akwatia Constituency of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obeng-Danquah, says the constituency needs a strong voice to represent the people and champion their development needs. Speaking to party supporters after filing his nomination, he stressed that he was the most qualified to offer effective representation for the constituency to get its fair share of the national resources.
Daakye, as Nana Obeng-Danquah is affectionately called, emphasized that Akwatia is significantly lagging behind in terms of infrastructure development and projects, even under the NPP government, due to the absence of strong leadership and representation.
“As a journalist, I seek to provide effective representation to advocate for infrastructure projects. I possess the skills and ability to promote the Akwatia Constituency,” he stated.
Daakye reiterated that without unity within the constituency as far as the NPP was concerned, it would be difficult to regain the Akwatia seat from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). He, therefore, urged party loyalists at all levels to be attentive to the ground situation. He noted, “The Akwatia NPP constituency is sharply divided along two factions, a divide that originated from the conduct of the 2020 parliamentary primaries.”
The parliamentary aspirant further appealed to the delegates to vote wisely and avoid repeating past mistakes. He assured them that they would be given priority in all available opportunities.
