The NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Manhyia South Constituency, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, demonstrated his commitment to the well-being of his constituents by sponsoring cataract surgeries for 58 individuals.
The beneficiaries were identified during a free medical screening organized by Lawyer Awuah in the constituency, in collaboration with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Clarion Medical Center. The screening, part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities, included comprehensive health checks.
During his door-to-door campaign, Lawyer Awuah observed a concerning prevalence of cataracts among his constituents. This prompted him to include eye screenings in the medical outreach. A subsequent medical report after the outreach revealed that 58 individuals required cataract surgeries.
Lawyer Awuah generously covered the full cost of these surgeries, ensuring that the affected residents could regain their sight. The beneficiaries expressed immense gratitude for his compassion and urged their fellow constituents to support him in the upcoming elections.
Maame Malley, the daughter of a beneficiary, shared her appreciation, noting that the surgery would have cost her family GHS 3,000. She praised Lawyer Awuah’s selfless act and urged voters to turn out in large numbers to support him.
The private legal practitioner secured his position as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Manhyia South in the July primaries following the selection of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate to the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
