Aspiring National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Amo Prempeh, popularly known as KayPee, has called for the professionalization of the party’s organizational wing as a critical strategy to defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to journalists after his vetting at the NPP Campaign Office, Kokomlemle in Accra on Tuesday, 2nd September, 2026, Kwame Amo Prempeh said the NPP must adopt strategic and innovative approaches to its internal organization and mobilisation if it is to achieve its goal of stopping the NDC from securing an eight-year stay in power. He said the party’s task in 2028 would be fundamentally different from previous elections because the NPP would be seeking to “cut the eight” after its failure to break the eight in 2024.
KayPee revealed that his campaign for the National Organiser position is anchored on what he calls the PEM Vision — Plan, Equip and Mobilize — which he said would provide a structured framework for reorganising the party, strengthening its grassroots structures and preparing its members for the 2028 contest.
He indicated that the NPP could not afford to approach the 2028 election with the same methods used in previous elections, stressing that the party must plan ahead, equip its structures with the necessary resources, knowledge and security support, and mobilise effectively from the grassroots if it is to cut the NDC’s expected eight-year tenure.
“My whole message is centered on professionalization of the organizational wing of the party. We need to do things strategically. We need to do things in an innovative way. You know, 2028 will not be the same as all the other elections we’ve had. 2028 is going to be tough,” Kwame Amo Prempeh said.
He said the political circumstances surrounding the 2028 election would present the NPP with a major challenge because the party would be attempting to achieve something different from its 2024 objective.
“Don’t forget, we are trying to do something that has not been done before. We tried to break the eight in 2024. Now we are trying to make sure that the NDC does not go to eight. We are going to cut the eight. That is also a big challenge,” Kwame Amo Prempeh said.
He indicated that the challenge required the NPP to rethink how it organises and prepares for elections, arguing that strategic planning and innovation must become central to the party’s operations.
“That’s why I’m presenting the PEM vision — Plan, Equip, Mobilize. We need to ensure that we have strategic plans in place before we even get on the field,” Kwame Amo Prempeh said.
He said equipping the party must go beyond providing material resources to also include building the knowledge and capacity of its members while ensuring that adequate attention is paid to security.
“We have to ensure that we equip ourselves properly with resources, with knowledge. Also, in terms of security, we have to ensure that we equip ourselves properly, and then mobilize ourselves on the grounds,” Kwame Amo Prempeh said.
He stressed that the NPP’s mobilisation strategy must begin with strengthening the party’s own base before reaching out to floating voters and other political stakeholders.
“Ensure we start the mobilization from home, and then we can get others to join us. Also, manage our stakeholders well. We have a lot of political stakeholders in Ghana. We need to manage all of them well to be able to be successful in 2028,” Kwame Amo Prempeh said.
He added that his message to delegates was therefore centred on building a more professional and better-organised party through the PEM framework.
“So my message is simple: professionalization of the party based on PEM — Plan, Equip, Mobilize,” Kwame Amo Prempeh stressed.
KayPee further described the exercise as friendly and positive, saying there was no reason for candidates to feel intimidated.
“It was very friendly, very positive. The atmosphere was very good. I mean, nothing to be intimidated about. It was okay. This is a home affair. You know, we are doing our internal election. It’s a home affair, so it was okay. It was very good,” Kwame Amo Prempeh said.
The NPP is scheduled to hold its National Delegates Conference on October 3, 2026, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, where delegates will elect new national executives to steer the party into the 2028 elections.
