Awuku: NPP cannot gamble with its parliamentary seats

The National Organiser of NPP, Sammi Awuku, has stated that the governing party cannot gamble with its chances at the parliamentary level in this year’s election.

According to him, President Akufo-Addo can only be successful if he has majority of NPP members in Parliament, hence the need to protect the party’s parliamentary seats and seek to wrest some more from the opposition NDC.

Speaking at Akwatia over the weekend, at a mini rally following a victory walk organised by the party, the NPP organiser indicated that the successes chalked by the Akufo-Addo government such as the Free SHS, ending of dumsor, building infrastructure such as roads, hospitals, among others, cannot be protected if the NPP does not win an overwhelming majority in Parliament.

To this end, he has asked all members of the party to fight together as a united force for victory.

Akwatia seat critical

The NPP organiser stated that one of the critical seats for the NPP in this year’s election is the Akwatia seat, hence the need to bring all forces on board to retain it for the party.

He charged residents of the area to vote massively for Ernest Yaw Kumi, the NPP parliamentary candidate, to continue with the good work commenced by the incumbent MP for the area, Mercy Adu Gyamfi, popularly known as Ama Sey.

He stated that Mr Kumi has what it takes to advance all the good works commenced by Ama Sey, and urged residents of the area not to ‘change their colour TV for black and white’ by making the mistake of voting for the NDC candidate.

Faithful Akufo-Addo

The NPP National Youth Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, noted that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been faithful to the people of Ghana by fulfilling all the promises he made to them.

Listing some achievement of the Akufo-Addo government, Nana B, as the NPP youth organiser is affectionately called, stated that Ghana would have been doomed should the novel coronavirus pandemic had struck under the erstwhile NDC administration. He stated that the President’s splendid handling of the Covid-19 should be a reason enough for Ghanaians to retain the NPP in power.

He pleaded with supporters of the NPP who feel aggrieved to let sleeping dogs lie and support the party.

“Skirt and blouse” is not the way to go. Let us intensify our house-to-house campaign and finish hard with few days into the general election,” he appealed.
