A Deputy Minister of Finance, Abena Osei-Asare, has begun the campaign for the election of Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the next president of Ghana. According to her, Dr. Bawumia has the proven track record and the vision to transform Ghana.
Addressing chiefs and residents of Anyinam in the Eastern Region over the weekend, the Atiwa East Member of Parliament said Dr. Bawumia had promised to continue all the good policies initiated and implemented by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government, necessitating the need for the people to give him the needed support.
She indicated that good policies such as the Free Senior High School would be continued to give respite to parents, and enhance education in the country.
She added that the many infrastructural projects commenced by the Akufo-Addo government would also continued and completed under Dr. Bawumia, while other life-changing social intervention policies initiated shall also be protected to bring relief to the citizenry.
Bawumia’s achievements
Enumerating the achievements of the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Ms. Osei-Asare said Dr. Bawumia had discharged the duties imposed on him as Vice-President creditably, hence the need to be voted for as president.
She indicated that under Dr. Bawumia as Vice-President, he superintended over the digitalization of the country, resulting in a ‘No Guarantor system’ for student loan applications; introduction of medical drone delivery syste;, digitizing the operations of the NHIA; helping to reduce fraudulent claims; and eliminating bottlenecks associated with the enrollment and renewal of National Health Insurance membership, thus increasing access to health care by those who need the services most.
She added that Dr. Bawumia supervised the linking of SSNIT, NHIS, GRA, Passport, CAGD payroll, DVLA, SIM card, Bank account to the NIA database, allowing the country to successfully weed out ghost workers on payroll, among others.
Future
She indicated that the vision of Dr. Bawumia that had made life comfortable for Ghanaians would be brought to bear under his presidency to transform Ghana.
Outlining some of the policies of the Vice-President, the Atiwa East legislator noted that under Dr. Bawumia as president of Ghana, he would introduce a growth mindset curriculum; enhance the repositioning of the education system to cope with the demands of the fourth Industrial Revolution; and expand infrastructure to support an increase in admission for students for medical and legal studies.
Additionally, he would enhance fiscal discipline; reduce the number of Ministers; train youths in IT skills, and empower the private sector to create jobs.
She has therefore called on all members of the party to unite behind the vice president.
