Two hundred widows and widowers from the Bosomtwe District have been supported by the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum at a special ceremony at Jachie.
The support to the widows and widowers which is an annual event was instituted by the MP six years ago after being elected as the MP for the area he uses the occasion to present an undisclosed amount of cash, food and a piece of cloth to each of them.
Apart from the donation, Dr. Adutwum who is also the Minister of Education spent time eating and dancing with the widows and widowers.
Addressing them before the presentation, Dr. Adutwum assured them of his commitment towards helping to enjoy normal life at all times.
Advice
He urged them to desist from indulging in any activity that stands the chance of affecting their health and their lives.
Dr. Adutwum stated that the government was working very hard towards revamping the nation’s economy which was hit by the global financial crunch.
He urged all Ghanaians to continue having faith in the government as it was working very hard to revamp the economy and other facets of the national development.
Dr. Adutwum said, with the current state of measures put in place by the economic management team, things would soon change for the good of all Ghanaians irrespective of political, religious, ethnic and social standing.
He reminded the widows and widowers to encourage their relations to strive to take their education seriously since that was the key to poverty eradication in their families and the nation as a whole.
Present at the presentation ceremony were the District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe, J. K Assumin, Aikens Addai Poku, Bosomtwe Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), among other dignitaries.
