President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has, in accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012, (Act 845) appointed a 15-member transition team following the declaration of the presidential election results by the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, on Wednesday evening.
The Act stipulates that “within twenty-four (24) hours of the declaration of the results of the presidential election by the Electoral Commission, the President shall constitute the membership of the Transition Team.”
Section 1(3) of the Act stipulates that “where the incumbent President is re-elected for a second term, the President shall designate members of the Transition Team.”
Team members
A statement issued yesterday by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Office of the President, said the team will be chaired by Mrs Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff at the Office of the President.
Other members of the team include Yaw Osafo-Maafo, Senior Minister; Gloria Akuffo, Attorney General and Minister of Justice; Ken Ofori-Atta, Minister of Finance; Ambrose Dery, Minister of Interior; Dominic Nitiwul, Minister of Defence; Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration; and Hajia Alima Mahama, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development.
The rest are Albert Kan Dapaah, Minister of National Security; Nana Dwamena, Head of the Civil Service; Dr Nana Ato Arthur, Head of the Local Government Service; Dr Janet Arnpadu Fofe, Chair of the Public Services Commission; Mrs Mercy Debrah, Secretary to the Cabinet; Mr Joshua Kyeremeh, National Security Co-ordinator; and Mr Henry Wood, Acting Chief Director, Office of the President.
