Amruda Company Limited, a general trading, import, and export services company, on Monday, hosted a solar energy workshop at African Unity Basic School, South-La, Accra to champion sustainable energy solutions and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
The event, held under the theme “Promoting Solar Energy for a Sustainable Future for Our Children,” was part of efforts to promote the necessary awareness of solar energy as a critical solution to environmental challenges facing Africa.
The workshop was designed to engage the students in interactive discussions about the benefits of solar energy, how solar panels work, and the role of renewable energy in combating climate change.
In addition to the theoretical discussions, the workshop featured live demonstrations of solar-powered gadgets and systems, showcasing practical applications of solar energy. Teachers and other school staff were also trained on integrating solar energy concepts into their classrooms to further spread awareness within the community.
Amruda’s commitment
Addressing students and staff of the school, the CEO of Amruda Company Limited, Frank Elinam Ruda, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to driving positive environmental change through innovative energy solutions. He emphasised the importance of equipping young minds with the knowledge and tools necessary to embrace sustainable energy in their daily lives.
“We are at a pivotal moment in history where our actions today will shape the future for generations to come. By fostering a deeper understanding of solar energy among young students, we are planting the seeds for a brighter, more sustainable future for our continent. Solar energy is not just an alternative, it is the future. Our children need to learn how to harness this energy to address the power deficits in Africa and ensure a sustainable way of living,” Ruda stated.
Elinam Ruda also outlined the long-term vision of Amruda Company Limited to expand its initiatives in renewable energy across local schools, businesses, and households in the region. He believes that the future of energy lied in the hands of the youth.
He pledged to empower young people and the broader community with knowledge that would help them take ownership of the energy solutions to power Africa in the coming decades.
He called on the school authorities to play their part in promoting renewable energy use. He added that as the world continues to grapple with the effects of climate change, such educational initiatives provide hope for a more sustainable and energy-conscious future for all.
The teachers and students expressed gratitude for the company’s initiative, noting that such workshops were crucial in raising awareness about climate change and the need for sustainable practices.
