The Chief of Ashaiman, Nii Annang Adzor, will today, April 16, 2025, launch a bold and life-saving initiative to combat the growing menace of opioid abuse in the municipality. Through the Nii Annang Adzor Foundation (NAAF), the chief will unveil a transformative campaign dubbed “Stop Red Before It Stops You” at the Ashaiman Presby Junction.
Dubbed in the local parlance as “Wonim Red”, the campaign aims to raise awareness, educate the youth, and promote community-wide action against the destructive wave of opioid consumption—particularly the dangerous abuse of tramadol and other related substances commonly referred to as “red”.
The campaign which is expected to kick off at 7:00 AM today, would be done in collaboration with stakeholders, including the Ashaiman Traditional Council, the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, the Ashaiman Education Directorate, the Ashaiman Police Command, and the Ashaiman Muslim Community. Also supporting the initiative are the Kaysens Group and the House of St. Francis Alcohol and Drug Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre.
More to come!
