As part of efforts to enhance security surveillance in the New Juaben South municipality of the Eastern Region, the Municipal Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Odonkor Baah, has indicated that the municipality has formed a community watchdog committee in all the communities within the municipality.
Speaking at a short inauguration ceremony in Koforidua, he said the formation of the community watchdog would minimise crime related issues such as stealing of goats and sheep among others.
According to the Commander, the community watchdog committee members were cautiously selected after thorough background checks. He noted that their biometric details had been captured by the New Juaben South Municipal Police Command to ensure that they work by the police rules and regulations.
“To enhance security surveillance in communities and minimize the rapid rise of the crime rate, there is the need for effective community and police partnership.
“One of these critical partnerships is the formation of community watchdog committees in at least all the communities in the New Juaben South Municipality to fight insecurity by enhancing security,” he stated.
