A former national treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gifty Ama Asantewaa Ayeh, says the party can win the 2024 general election with “unity”.
Mrs Asantewaa Ayeh, who is affectionately called “Daavi Ama”, is the only female contesting with six other aspirants for the national chairmanship position.
Speaking in a radio interview yesterday, Daavi Ama said what the party needs now is “a mother figure who will resolve internal issues in the party and prepare them for victory in the 2024 elections”.
“No contestant can match me when it comes to experience, track records and consistency in the history of the NPP. When given the nod, I will be looking forward to unifying a party that is going into one of its toughest battles yet. And I will strive to help the party achieve the breaking eight years’ mantra,” she assured.
Daavi Ama appealed to the delegates to vote for her as the first female National Chairman in order to transform the NPP into a powerful electoral force capable of breaking the country’s eight year’s governance cycle.
She is expected to face male counterparts like Prof. Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Sammy Crabbe, Akwasi Osei Adjei and George Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah.
