Some unknown assailants have made away with vital documents at the premises of political think tank Danquah Institute (DI).
The attack, which occurred over the weekend, was similar to the break-in at the Institute that happened in the lead up to the 2016 election, during which the assailants also made away with important documents.
A statement signed by the Executive Director of DI, Richard Ahiagbah, disclosed that the goons made away well as laptops, flash drives and a sum of GHC12, 000.
“Initial observation is that the Institute’s premises was rummaged, marauded and pillaged by some unknown persons who are suspected to have done so in search of some information,” the statement said.
“Management of Danquah Institute note that the laptop and flash drives contain proprietary data, draft research reports and minutes which have always been kept safe in the office,” it added.
It further noted that even though the matter has since been reported to the police to unmask the perpetrators, it is unclear as to who could be behind the burglary and what the culprits could need those information for.
The statement also said precautionary measures have been taken to increase security at the Institute, and pleaded with the public to “assist the police while they carry out their investigation into the matter.”
