The Ellembele divisional police commander, ACP Dodzi Hlordzi, has been interdicted by the police administration.
Hlordzi, who has been desperately trying to distance the police from the missing excavators, was interdicted on Monday September 5 on instruction of the Inspector General of Police.
Investigation into the issue, however, continues, according to the District Chief Executive, Kwasi Bonzoh, in a meeting with journalists yesterday.
Hlordzi’s interdiction was also confirmed by the Western Regional Police commander, DCOP Adusah Poku.
Mr Bonzoh said the interdiction was just the beginning and that all mysteries surrounding the missing excavators will soon be unraveled as police investigations continue.
He also assured the general public that all those who connived to drive the excavators from Teleku-Bokazo would be exposed and brought to book.
DCE Bonzoh expressed strong conviction that the excavators could still be hiding somewhere in the district and would likely be retrieved.
Journalists gathered during a visit to Teleku-Bokazo on Sunday, reported that one Stephen Meah Kanga, a galamsey kingpin, was seen hovering around the seized excavators; but there are also speculations that some monies might have changed hands before the machines got missing.
