President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned two hostels of four apartments each and an administration block, with a research centre, in Sekondi for the Western Regional House of Chiefs (WRHC).
The facility, donated by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), is expected to provide a befitting working environment and accommodation for the Chiefs, when they go to Sekondi for their meetings and conferences.
Unveiling the plaque at the commissioning ceremony, President Akufo-Addo commended the chiefs and people of the region for their support in creating a conducive environment for oil and gas operations in the country.
He also commended GNPC for the development projects being undertaken in the region to bridge the development gap in the area, assuring them of government’s commitment to delivering on its promises.
President Nana Akufo-Addo was joined by the President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, for the commissioning.
Present at the ceremony were Hon. Freddie Blay, GNPC Board Chairman, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II , Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the GNPC Foundation and Board Member of GNPC, Dr. Kwame Baah-Nuakoh, General Manager (Sustainability) of GNPC as well as Dr. Dominic Eduah, Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation.
Also present at the ceremony were the Western Regional Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for Takoradi, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, other Ministers of State, MPs, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region.
