The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, on Easter Monday led a delegation from the Regional Security Council to inspect and check compliance of Ghanaians to the government’s restrictions imposed on beaches as part of measures to curb the spread of the Covid-19 protocols.
The tour, dubbed ‘Operation Stay Off the Beaches’, was part of joint operations embarked on by the Ghana Armed Force (GAF), Police Service (GPS), Immigration Service (GIS) among other security intelligence agencies.
Mr Quartey expressed appreciation to the security agencies for a good job done.
He expressed optimism that the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) would be strengthened to use local security to ensure compliance at the local level.
“From time to time, the state security and intelligence agencies will step in on major national holidays to ensure such compliance.
“We shall continue with the work, and I continue to make a passionate appeal to the media, residents of Accra and the general public to come together to ensure that Accra gets better,” he stressed.
