A member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPPs) National Communications Team, Hopeson Adorye, has lauded Justin Frimpong Kodua (JFK), an aspiring General Secretary of the NPP, for his pledge to address the party’s internal electoral challenges through digitisation, if elected into office.
Speaking in an interview on Oman FM on the party’s internal elections and the way forward, Mr Adorye outlined a number of positive impacts the initiative could have on the party’s internal elections.
He stressed that “the party risks the opportunity of breaking the 8-year jinx if drastic measures are not taken to curb the current and potential internal electoral irregularities”.
Solution
According to him, Mr Kodua is right in insisting that the party cannot consistently repeat the same things and expect different results. He maintained that the current wrangling portends catastrophe for the party in its preparations ahead of the 2024 general elections, if interventions were not put in place.
“Lawyer Kodua has proposed several other digitisation solutions, which will be considered under his administration. Notable among them has been the introduction of the NPP Electronically Generated Electoral Forms (E-Forms). He has on several platforms explained the effectiveness of this system in addressing the electoral challenges of the party and building party cohesion,” Mr Adorye said.
He noted that the proposed intervention had received remarkable acceptance by party people, manifesting when the incumbent General Secretary, John Boadu, at his press conference on March 10 2022, announced that the party was going digital, starting from the Electoral Area Coordinators’ elections.
Other digital interventions
Mr Adorye also mentioned some other digitisation interventions unveiled by the aspiring NPP General Secretary, like the introduction of the NPP Electronic Register (E-Register), NPP App for the collection of membership dues and other payments to the party.
He also cited the introduction of NPP Electronic Information Hub (EIH), establishment of a call centre, reintroduction of the NPP Biometric Membership ID Cards, Electronic Reporting System (E-Reporting) and streamlining the party’s website to make it more interactive for vibrant social media engagement.
“JFK has promised to implement these within the first 100 days when voted into office as the next General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party in June, 2022. Let us hail the incoming General Secretary, JFK, for his proactiveness, creativity, innovativeness and strong commitment to ensuring smooth internal party governance,” he entreated.
