Mrs Eunice Jacqueline Buah, the immediate past Western Regional representative on the Council of State, has been re-elected for another term.
The 56-year-old business woman had 24 out of the 28 votes cast in a second-round balloting held at the Western Regional Co-ordinating Council yesterday, with her sole contender, Nana Ntori Bonkyi Akomeah, polling four votes.
Acceptance
In a brief acceptance speech, Mrs Buah thanked God for the victory and the residents in the region for the confidence and trust reposed in her. She urged them to unite and rally behind her to deliver in her mandate.
Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, the Regional Minister-designate, described Mrs Buah’s victory as decisive.
He noted that Mrs Buah, in her first term, delivered on her mandate, adding that her victory indicates that she indeed deserves another term to continue with what she has been doing for the region.
Second round
None of the five candidates who contested in the Western Regional Council of State election secured majority votes in the first round voting last Friday. Three of them had zero, with Mrs Buah and Nana Akomeah splitting the 28 votes with 14 each.
This called for a second-round balloting, which was held yesterday.
