A national youth organiser contestant at the just ended New Patriotic Party (NPP) national delegates’ conference, Prince Kamal Gumah, has called for united front to achieve the ‘breaking the 8’ agenda.
As a show of statesmanship, he has also congratulated the newly elected youth organiser, Salam Mustapha, on his endorsement to lead the party’s youth wing.
Interacting with the media on Monday, Mr Gumah pointed out that he had reached out to the youth organiser to pledge his full support for him and the youth wing.
He expressed his readiness to offer unflinching support to the new officers to help the party break the eight years’ governance cycle in 2024.
Unity
He called on all his campaign team members, supporters and well-wishers to stay united and support the efforts of the new leadership of the party wherever they find themselves. This, he indicated, would ensure the realisation of the ‘breaking the 8’ agenda to better the lives of Ghanaians.
According to him, his loss of the national youth organiser position should not create apathy among members “but we should rather preach unity of purpose among the rank and file of the party”.
“I have also assured Salam of my cooperation as we seek to build a united front to break the eight-year governance jinx come 2024. We have discussed amongst other issues, and the way forward for the youth wing. I showed my interest in a short time but was able to pull modest votes,” he said.
He acknowledged the support of his campaign team members, supporters and well-wishers, saying “I appreciate your efforts, encouragement and the opportunity given him to contest the election”.
Mr Gumah entreated other contestants to follow suit to get over the outcome of the election, and join hands in unifying and strengthening the party to ‘break’ the eight.’
Prior to the delegates’ conference, he had expressed his determination to re-energise the youth to fight aggressively for the party to ‘break the eight.’
“We need organisers willing to fight for this party. I’ll make sure that the youth are actively involved in the party’s work for them to feel the party is for them. I will make our youth organisers get opportunities to work for the party,” he had promised.
Mr Gumah also reiterated the need for the national leadership of the party to consider the general welfare of the party, and work hard for the party to emerge victorious come 2024 election.
