The management of KGL Technology Limited, a licensed online lotto marketing company, will soon release funds to the National Lottery Authority (NLA) to enable the regulator pay off outstanding winning draws.
The move follows a unanimous decision with the leadership of Financial Business and Services Employees Union (FBSEU) of G. F. L., and the NLA through its finance directorate.
A statement from KGL indicated that the support would help calm nerves and reduce the tension at the Authority.
Non-payment
The non-payment of outstanding lottery wins to customers recently became a worrying situation for the staff, lotto marketing companies and the industry as a whole.
The Authority had failed to pay winning draws from as far back as April 2020, resulting in attacks on the lives of the staff of the Authority in places like Tamale in the Northern Region.
The Director-General of the Authority, Kofi Osei Ameyaw, set up a three-member committee to probe allegations of non-payment of big wins across the country.
He charged the committee to verify, validate and authenticate documents of persons in the category of big wins.
However, KGL Technology Limited has stepped in to resolve the matter, by releasing monies to the Authority to pay all outstanding wins of the NLA.
“KGL Technology Limited is ever prepared to harmoniously work with all the stakeholders of the lottery industry and employees of National Lottery Authority to ensure a maximum revenue generation for Government, support the welfare of staff and lotto marketing companies,” the statement further said.
