The Holy Ghost Fire Hour Ministry in Klagon yesterday donated food items to widows in and around the church’s jurisdiction and beyond.
The donation ceremony, which was well attended by hundreds of widows, was aimed at putting some smiles in the faces of the beneficiaries.
Food items ranging from bags of rice, milk, sugar, and oil, amounting to GHC50, 000, were given to the widows to mark the annual donation exercise as part of the church’s key objectives.
Making the presentation on behalf of the General Overseers of the Ministry, Evangelist Emmanuel Boakye Danquah and Prophetess Susuana Boakye Danquah, Pastor Eric Boakye Danquah, said it was meant to fulfil one of the requirements in the Bible for less privileged individuals like widows.
He said the church had been practicing this for the past 12 years and counting because it is essential to smile with widows.
Biblical standpoint
“I believe the standpoint of the Bible is clear about benevolent activities towards widows. We can’t claim to worship God, but we wouldn’t want to share food items with the widows who are within our community and beyond. It is imperative that we do, and we will continue to donate in this direction,” he assured.
He said corporate institutions must equally take steps to donate to widows, as their issues are enormous.
According to him, if institutions engage in this practice from time to time, society will experience a never-ending environment of peace and harmony.
“We must collectively ensure that the issues of widows are taken into account in our daily activities. Let’s do the little we can to assist them, and our reward will come quickly,” he stated.
Meanwhile, some of the beneficiaries of the kind gesture could not hide their joy as they thanked the leadership of the church and members for coming to their aid.
