Dr Kingsley Nyarko, the Member of Parliament-elect for Kwadaso, says sacking executives of the governing New Patriotic Party is not the best way forward.
According to him, what the party needs to do is to find out why the NPP could not perform well in the just ended parliamentary polls.
“We need to get a more scientific basis so that we will be able to identify the exact reasons for our performances in the 2020 elections. That is how we will be able to address those identifiable causes to enable us perform well in the 2024 elections,” he said.
Dr Nyarko, in an interview with the Daily Statesman, said issues like this, if one is not careful, might fixate on a particular group of people and come to a wrong conclusion.
“So, let us all be patient. It is early days yet,” he added.
He suggested that the President puts together a credible team to help analyse the NPP’s performance than calling for the heads of the executives.
One-term MP tag
Dr Kingsley Nyarko also pledged to break the ‘one-term MP’ tag which has been hanging on the neck of his constituency.
He said the overwhelming endorsement for him was a clear demonstration of the people’s willingness to work closely with him to improve living conditions in the area.
Dr Nyarko recorded a total of 61,772, out of the 70,944 valid votes cast.
The Kwadaso constituency, which was created in 2004, has been notorious for giving their MPs one term in office.
United in victory
Dr Nyarko, who was elated over his election, said he would work to bring all stakeholders on board to promote development. He expressed gratitude to the constituents for voting him to represent them in Parliament and also voting massively for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He said the massive votes received poses a challenge to him to work hard to justify the confidence the people have reposed in him.
“Since the constituency was created, it is only Dr Akoto who was able to represent the constituency in Parliament for eight years, but my time as an MP I will work extremely hard to go beyond those years,” he added.
He appealed to the people of Kwadaso to unite as one people, no matter their political parties, to support him develop the constituency.
Pru West
Meanwhile, the newly elected MP for Pru West, Stephen Pambiin Jalulah, has also expressed his appreciation to all those who voted for him and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“We have been pursuing this dream for close to eight years, but in all this is the first time in eight years that Pru West constituency NPP has been pursuing the seat. But today we managed to climb up from 42 votes down in 2016 to 3,985 votes,” he said in an interview with the Daily Statesman.
