The La Homowo festival will be celebrated in peace and harmony, according to Nii Adjei Koofeh IV, the La Shikitele (King Maker).
Nii Adjei Koofeh IV, who is also the leader of Nmati Abonase, has called on the chiefs and people of La to continue living in peace and unity as they approach the annual celebration of the Homowo festival. He noted that the lineup of activities leading up to the celebration has been successful.
Nii Adjei also mentioned that there is currently no Paramount Chief in La following the demise of the previous chief. He clarified that such matters do not prevent the people of La from celebrating.
In an interview with the media during the Alumi Dzomor celebration at Kowe Blohum, a suburb of La, Nii Adjei Koofeh IV, who is also a government representative at the Municipal Council, highlighted that the La Homowo festival is one of the grandest and finest among similar celebrations within the Ga state.
He used the occasion to address community members who believe that the Homowo festival should not be celebrated due to the absence of a Paramount Chief. He stated that while he had no issues with this view, the gods and some elders of the Traditional Council had been consulted and approved the celebration. He added, “This is not the first time the people of La are celebrating Homowo without a Paramount Chief.”
Nii Adjei referred to past instances in La’s chieftaincy history when Homowo was celebrated without a Paramount Chief and assured that thorough preparations have been made to ensure the success of the event. He encouraged all members of the La community to support and rally behind the chiefs for another grand Homowo celebration.
Addressing the boundaries that La shares with other communities, he disclosed that Nyaniba Estates, the 37 Military Hospital, Ako Adjei, and surrounding areas are under the jurisdiction of the La stool. He advised neighboring communities to engage with the stool regarding boundary and demarcation issues in a manner that can be resolved amicably.
