The governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Organiser for the Madina constituency, Antwi Bosiako, together with his wings and team members, have intensified grassroots efforts to rally support for the party ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Speaking to the media, he explained that his mission was to contribute to the NPP’s agenda of breaking the “eight-year political jinx” that had characterised Ghana’s political landscape.
The team
Mr. Antwi Bosiako is leading this effort alongside his dedicated team, which includes Rashid Suleiman, the Nasara Coordinator; Hajia Mama, Deputy Nasara Coordinator, and George Kwasi Atuobi, the Assistant Secretary. Key figures such as Shila Alhassan, the Deputy Youth Organiser, and Genevieve Boahene, the Women’s Organiser, are actively involved, along with Michael Kofi Mackenzie, a former constituency chairman. Their team also benefits from the support of experienced members like Dan Fosu, the former constituency Secretary, and Dorcas Agyei and Hajia Amina Abu, both former Deputy Women Organisers.
Moreover, Mr. Bosiako’s campaign is strengthened by the involvement of the 21 Constituency electoral area coordinators and polling station executives, including Michael Konadu, Nana Ogyam-Sasraku, Lawyer Amoah, Amankwah, Issah Awudu, Rabi, and Jemila. All are working together to rally support for Robert Lamptey, popularly known as ‘Okumkom’, the aspiring Member of Parliament for Madina, and the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
House-to-house campaign
Mr. Bosiako has adopted a proactive approach, engaging in a house-to-house campaign within the constituency, speaking directly to residents and party supporters.
His outreach has been focused on energising the party’s base, and securing the loyalty of the electorate. He aims to build a strong voter base for the NPP to ensure victory in both the parliamentary and presidential elections.
Reaching out to stalwarts
Additionally, part of Mr. Bosiako’s strategy is the inclusion of long-standing party members who may feel sidelined or disgruntled. By reaching out to former stalwarts of the NPP, he is encouraging them to return to active participation in party activities, offering them renewed roles in the campaign.
His efforts aim to strengthen unity within the party as the NPP pushes to secure a third consecutive term in office, a feat never before accomplished in Ghana’s political history under the Fourth Republic.
Supporting needy students
To further boost the party’s appeal, especially among younger voters and families in need, Mr. Bosiako has been providing support to needy but brilliant students in Madina. His initiative involves the donation of trunks and other essential academic supplies to students, helping to ease the financial burden on parents while emphasising the NPP’s commitment to educational development.
Speaking during one of his campaign stops, Mr. Bosiako noted that education was one of the pillars of the NPP’s vision for the country. He said by empowering the youth through education, the party was investing in the future of Ghana. “We are not only asking for votes, but we are showing that we care about the people’s everyday needs,” he said.
He indicated that the house-to-house campaign had been well received in Madina, with many constituents expressing appreciation for the personal touch brought to the campaign. He added that his efforts were part of a broader strategy by the NPP to re-engage local communities, rally party supporters, and counter any voter apathy in the lead-up to the elections.
