Some members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region, particularly in the Mampong Constituency, are calling on the current Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the party, Dennis Kwakwa, to contest the constituency’s parliamentary seat.
Information gathered by the Daily Statesman indicates that both the youth and some senior members of the NPP in the region are pushing Mr. Kwakwa to accept the challenge.
They contend that Mr Kwakwa has dedicated his service to the party and thus merits the position.
In view of this, the campaigners have taken to social to express their willingness to support him should he take up the task when the party opens nomination.
Amongst messages going round to create awareness on the need for the Regional Communications Director to show interest in the parliamentary primaries are: “Mr Dennis Kwakwa inspires”.
One of such posts on Facebook read: “As for me and my house, we will vote for him…if he decides to come. #deniskwakwaonthemountaintop”. This hashtag is seen on several social media walls and pages of key party activists.
Service
Dennis Kwakwa has served the NPP in the capacity as youth secretary, polling station chairman and constituency youth organiser for the Mampong Constituency.
He is also a former NPP regional youth organizer and NABCO Coordinator.
The Asante Mampong indigene has over the years worked closely with the youth of the party, creating several opportunities for them.
During last year’s yuletide, Mr Kwakwa organised a football competition for the youth in the Mampong Constituency, attracting several party bigwigs and traditional leaders in the region.
