Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah, MCE for Asokwa
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokwa, Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah, has appealed to churches to take precautionary measures in safeguarding their environments from any action or activity that can cause harm to their congregants.
Speaking at the inauguration of a new chapel of the Pentecost International Worship Cenre (PIWC) at Asokwa, the MCE said the threats of terrorism are real, as stated by the national security advisor.
He stressed that some neighbouring countries, including Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast, had experienced the threats and some attacks from terrorists.
Some of these activities, Chief Akwannuasah noted, had happened at church gatherings, with one happening in Burkina Faso a few months ago.
The MCE said these signs had clearly shown that anything was possible in every country in Africa where it seems the terrorists are targeting.
Caution
Chief Akwannuasah therefore asked the church to take heed to the caution by the national security, and constantly sensitize its congregation about the threats, and intensify measures to prevent any attack on their premises.
The Asokwa MCE urged church members to stay alert and active whenever they visit the church for service, and observe movements of people, especially strangers, on their premises.
“As church members, we are to carefully observe movements of people, especially strangers, and alert those in authority, especially persons trained in security, about anything they suspect to be abnormal or strange. So, ‘when you see something say something’,” Chief Akwannuasah admonished.
Speaking to this reporter after the dedication of the PIWC Temple, Apostle Joseph I.T Nuertey, of Asokwa PIWC, thanked God for enabling the church to build to his glory.
He commended the church members for toiling and sowing from their difficult conditions to ensure the building was put up for God. He assured the congregation of God’s blessings for their generous contributions towards the construction of the chapel.
“God will not overlook your generous act of kindness and your dedication to the progress of his Kingdom,” the PIWC leader assured.
