The Middle Belt Development Authority’s office in the Eastern Region has commissioned ultra-modern institutional toilet facilities with mechanized boreholes for the Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS) and Oyoko Methodist SHS (OMESS), both in the New Juaben North constituency.
The two projects form part of projects in all the 32 constituencies across the region, embarked upon by the Authority under the government’s ‘One Million Dollar, One Constituency’ programme.
The Regional Director of the Authority, Arimeyaw Alhassan Alolo, has assured the public of the Authority’s commitment to ensuring that good sanitation is maintained in the various institutions in the region with the provision of the toilet and borehole facilities.
Assessment
According to Eric Nkansah, the Regional Finance Officer of the Authority, the decision for the execution of the projects were based on an earlier assessment made to ascertain the pressing needs of institutions within the region.
He said a community based mechanized solar powered water system has also been commissioned for residents of Abrewa Nkwanta, a suburb of Koforidua, in the same municipality, with others at Oyoko and Effiduase yet to be commissioned, though completed.
He explained that the projects are under the government’s “Water for All” programme meant to ensure that communities get easy access to potable water.
He said the Community Based Mechanised Solar Powered Water System would go a long way to solve the perennial water problem people in the area have to endure due to lack of easy access.
He also assured the populace of the Authority’s continuous support to improving living conditions by ensuring that basic facilities are provided.
