About the YCF
The Young Commons Forum (YCF) is a youth-focused initiative in Ghana, inaugurated by Minority Leader Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin in September 2025 at institutions such as the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and the University of Education, Winneba (UEW). The forum is designed to empower students by promoting leadership development, encouraging entrepreneurship, and fostering responsible digital engagement as part of a broader agenda for national transformation.
The initiative seeks to create a vibrant platform where young people can engage in meaningful dialogue on governance, civic responsibility, innovation, and sustainable development. Through mentorship, training sessions, and interactive discussions, YCF aims to equip students with the skills and confidence needed to contribute positively to Ghana’s democratic and socio-economic progress.
With the University of Cape Coast (UCC) joining the initiative, the forum will further expand its reach and impact by bringing together a wider network of young leaders and future professionals. The inclusion of UCC is expected to strengthen the movement’s commitment to nurturing critical thinkers, responsible citizens, and entrepreneurial-minded graduates who are prepared to take up leadership roles in their communities and beyond.
Ultimately, the Young Commons Forum represents a growing youth-driven effort to inspire patriotism, civic engagement, and innovation among Ghana’s next generation of change-makers.
