Moves by some New Patriotic Party executives in the Ellembele constituency of Western Region to allegedly plant National Democratic Congress members at the various polling stations, as part of their game plan against Kwasi Bonzoh, the District Chief Executive, has been exposed by leadership of the opposition party.
In a statement issued with the headline ‘Abstain from NPP Internal election’, the NDC leadership said its attention had been drawn to involvement of some party members in NPP’s ongoing polling station elections.
Signed by one Joseph Agyekum, the constituency secretary, and copied to Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament for the area, the party’s Council of Elders and Disciplinary Committee, the statement stressed that NDC has no “interest” whatsoever in NPP’s internal elections.
Caution
It is against this backdrop that it has directed all NDC party executives, members and sympathisers to desist from any direct or indirect involvement in the NPP’s internal elections.
The statement warned that any NDC member who acts contrary to this directive or breaches rules and regulations of their party’s constitution would face disciplinary action.
“Release of this statement followed public outcry and condemnation that the NDC has no business meddling in its opponent’s internal elections,” it said.
Some political analysts and social commentators have described the statement as hypocritical, considering the fact that the NDC in Ellembele always team up with saboteurs in the NPP against Mr Bonzoh.
Led by Samuel Akainyah, the constituency chairman, some of the NPP executives are said to be vigorously facilitating the election of NDC members as polling station executives for the ruling party. Their game plan is to use these imposters to vote against Mr. Bonzoh at the parliamentary primary level, should he once again declare his intention to contest.
The saboteurs have resolved never to allow Bonzoh, three time NPP parliamentary candidate for Ellembele constituency, enter Parliament, and are always scheming with their collaborators in NDC against him.
