Nneka Youth Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has restated its commitment to reaching out to all school-age children in underserved communities and providing them with the necessary support and mindset to thrive academically and become responsible adults.
Founder of the Foundation, Mrs. Cecilia Fiaka, said this during the 3-day Nneka Mini Camp at Dzelukope in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region. It saw in attendance 1,350 participants from three districts namely, Anloga, Keta and South Tongu, receive transformative experiences.
Mrs Fiaka explained that the programme offered diverse activities designed to promote holistic development and foster a sense of self-belief. She stated that the participants were engaged in interactive sessions focused on leadership and personal development. She added that expert facilitators guided them through educational talks, skill-building exercises, and team-building activities.
Empowerment
She said the Foundation used the camp to help bridge the educational gap and empower children who often face significant challenges in accessing quality education. According to her, the Foundation’s primary focus is to ensure that no child is left behind, regardless of their socioeconomic background.
Mrs Fiaka further highlighted the importance of education as a catalyst for personal growth and societal development. She firmly believes that by instilling a mindset of perseverance and providing essential resources, children can overcome obstacles and realise their full potential.
“Our vision is to create a supportive environment that encourages children to stay in school, learn, and ultimately become responsible adults who can contribute positively to their communities. We believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and unlocking a brighter future for these children and so the essence of the mini camp,” she stated.
She added that: “Overall, the programme was successful. It resulted in making lasting impact, creating a platform for growth, learning, and meaningful connections. Participants were inspired and empowered to make positive changes in their lives and communities”.
Collaboration
Mrs Fiaka, therefore, called on all stakeholders to come on board to realise this vision every year. She attributed the success of the programme to the collaboration with the Municipal and District Chief Executives as well as the Education Directors in the district.
For his part, the Keta Municipal Chief Executive, Emmanuel Gemegah, admonished parents to see the programme as a life transforming one for their wards.
He advised the participants to take the moral and motivational lessons seriously and apply them to better their lives.
The Anloga District Director of Education, Mrs Yvonne Akpene Ame-Bruce and the Keta Municipal Director, Mr. Avudzivi, urged the children to focus on their studies and be disciplined at all times.
