The New Patriotic Party has announced the commencement of a nationwide exhibition of its voter register ahead of the 2026 presidential primary, in a move aimed at strengthening transparency and credibility within the party’s internal electoral process. The announcement was contained in a statement dated December 29, 2025, and signed by William Yamoah, Secretary of the Presidential Elections Committee.
The disclosed that it had begun the distribution of the 2026 Presidential Elections Voter Register to all constituencies through the Regional Secretariat, setting the stage for a constituency level verification exercise across the country.
According to the Committee, “the purpose of the nationwide exhibition of the voter register at each constituency for the Party’s 2026 Presidential Election is to ensure accuracy and transparency in the electoral process.” The exercise is intended to give party stakeholders, particularly accredited delegates, the opportunity to verify their details ahead of the presidential contest.
The Committee explained that the initiative was deliberately structured to be inclusive, noting that, “we designed this initiative to enable all stakeholders, especially delegates, to confirm their details in their respective Constituencies and Regions.”
As part of the exercise, party executives at the regional and constituency levels have been tasked to pay close attention to the integrity of the register. The Committee specifically urged that “the various Regional Executive and Constituency Executive Committees, through their designated IT officers, report if any, all discrepancies, including omissions, misspellings, incorrect photographs, absent images, and other clerical errors.”
The verification exercise is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, and will run until Monday, January 5, 2026, providing a five day window for thorough inspection and correction of the register.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the process, the Committee called on key party structures to play active roles. “All Regional and Constituency Executives, Members of the Constituency Council of Elders, Constituency Patrons, and Electoral Area Coordinators are requested to facilitate the seamless and transparent execution of this process,” the statement said.
In line with the party’s commitment to openness and inclusiveness, the Committee also invited presidential aspirants to observe the process. It emphasized that, “to uphold our commitment to a free, fair, transparent, and credible electoral process, we kindly ask all Presidential Candidates to appoint representatives to observe the exhibition exercise at the Constituency level.”
The statement further called for cooperation from all party members and stakeholders as the NPP prepares for the 2026 presidential election.
