The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has affirmed the dates for the party’s 2022 constituency annual delegates’ conferences.
In a press release issued yesterday, Mr Boadu said the dates for the conferences still remain April 28, 2022 to May 2, 2022 as earlier communicated.
“It would be recalled that the NPP, in a press release, dated April 13, 2022, announced the decision of the party’s National Executive Committee, which met a day earlier, to hold the party’s 2022 Constituency Annual Delegates Conference between April 28 and May 2, 2022,” the statement said.
Affirmation
The statement, however, noted that in view of the upcoming statutory holidays of May Day and Eid-Ul-Fitr Day, there had been public speculation that the selected days could be impacted by these statutory holidays.
“The party, by this release, affirms that the dates for the Constituency Annual Delegates Conference remains April 28 to May 2 as earlier communicated,” the statement added.
To this end, the statement stressed that it is the responsibility of the duly constituted Constituency Elections Committee to determine an appropriate day within the given period to conduct the conference and hold the elections under the supervision of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, in accordance with the party’s rules and regulations.
According to him, the affirmation of the dates, April 28 to May 2, 2022, was made by the party’s National Steering Committee at an emergency meeting held yesterday, April 24, 2022, pursuant to Article (10) (10) (1) of the party’s constitution.
He therefore used the opportunity to wish all prospective candidates in the constituency elections the best of luck.
