The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed its gratitude to members and all those who participated in the party’s just-ended National Delegates Conference in Kumasi for their roles in making the programme a success.
The conference, which was, among other things, meant to take stock of the activities of the party in the year under review, particularly its performance in the 2020 general elections and to plan for the coming years, was on the theme “NPP, Our Resolve, Our Determination and Commitment to Ghana’s Development.”
In a press statement signed by its General Secretary, John Boadu, the party thanked the National Planning Committee, which was led by Madam Rita Asobayire, and all the sub-committees for doing an excellent job.
“The Party is also grateful to H.E. President Akufo-Addo and spouse, H.E. Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia and spouse, Ministers of State, MPs, MMDCEs, CEOs and other government officials, members of the Diplomatic Corps, the Security Agencies, the Media as well as representatives of other political parties that graced the occasion, and supported the organization of the Conference, in diverse ways,” it further said.

According to the statement, the theme for the conference resonated the party’s true spirit of uniting the country around the singular effort of working closely with Ghanaians, as the country recovers from the ravages from Covid-19 and rebuild the economy in new ways to feed into a future of shared growth and prosperity.
“Finally, the Party wishes to use this opportunity to commend the National Delegates Conference for accepting the proposal made by the Afenyo-Makin led Constitution Review Committee, having regard to the prevailing exigency, and passing a Resolution mandating the Party’s second highest decision-making body, the National Council, to deliberate and take appropriate decisions, on its behalf, in respect of the various motions and proposals for amendment to the Party Constitution,” it added.
Guide into future
In a related development, the party’s National Women Organiser, Kate Gyamfua, has also lauded the leaders and delegates for their comportment.
“I congratulate the party for the successful, event-free conference. I thank all party leaders and delegates who traveled from across the country to attend the event,” she said in an interview with the Daily Statesman.
Mrs Gyamfua expressed the hope that the party “will be able to break the eight” because of the peaceful breeze currently blowing in the party from the conference.
“This will guide the activities of the party, as we prepare to enter the next phase of mobilisation and reorganisation ahead of the 2024 general election. We are certainly on a good course to ‘break the eight come 2024’,” she added
