The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has unveiled new membership dues platform for its members. This is to strengthen its financial standing, enhance membership drive, and improve the welfare of the members.
Addressing the media on the development, the party’s National Chairman, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, explained that the decision, which was taken during a recent meeting of the party’s National Council, seeks to consolidate its position in the political landscape and continue its mission to advance the nation’s progress.
Mr Ntim stressed that the party’s constitution enjoins all members to pay dues, and also make donations to sustain the party and ensure its growth.
“This decision is to restructure the membership dues to boost the finances of the party, improve membership drive and enhance the welfare of party members. In NPP, when we say a member in good standing, we are referring to a party member who has been paying his or her dues fully as required,” he stated.
Payment at ease
The NPP Chair further indicated that this new membership dues structure is more convenient, transparent and efficient, noting that “the membership dues mode of payment and procedure ensure accountability”.
“The new membership dues payment system is designed and structured into various categories powered by an in-built technology where every member can easily and conveniently pay their dues by simply dialing *920*270# and following the prompts,” he added.
He pointed out that there are four monthly membership dues categories. These include bronze category for ₵ 2.00 per month, silver category for ₵ 5.00 per month, gold category for ₵ 8.00 per month and platinum category for ₵ 10.00 per month.
Mr Ntim said aside from the membership dues, the party’s constitution also talks about patrons. These, he explained, are individual party members who may choose to contribute substantially towards the progress of the party at different levels from constituency, regional and national levels.
He added that the platform also allows for the collection of the contributions of all patrons at each level. He revealed that there will be benefits to members who pay their dues as a way of motivating members.
