An Ashanti Regional Chairman hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, has advised parties in the forthcoming internal elections in the Ashanti Region to approach the elections with a sense of responsibility.
He noted the role of the Ashanti Region, as the party’s stronghold, in general elections, and therefore advised that all parties “to act right during the constituency executives’ elections in order to achieve the ‘Breaking the 8’ agenda”, an agenda he said requires hard work and unity.
“Ashanti Region is indeed the heart of the New Patriotic Party. For this reason, we must not disappoint. When Ashanti Region sneezes, the New Patriotic Party catches a cold. Ashanti Region must get it right. We must ensure that our party emerges from these internal elections stronger and better to win the 2024 general elections,” he said in a statement on the upcoming constituency executives’ elections.
“Please, in the heat of the contest, let us remember that these are internal elections and, for that matter, we are members of the same family. We should not forget who our real opponents are. In the end, we will need all hands on deck to achieve the ultimate goal of winning the 2024 general elections,” he added.
Positive vibes
Mr Odeneho Appiah further praised the enthusiasm with which party members are availing themselves to take up leadership positions at various levels in order to serve the NPP.
“I am very confident that at the end of all the elections at all the different levels, the best men and women will be elected to steer the affairs of our beloved party for the next four years,” he said.
“Let us remember that the ultimate winner is and should be the party but not any individual(s). Elections of polling station executives and electoral area coordinators have already been conducted,” he added.
The NPP will hold its constituency executives’ elections from Thursday, April 28 to May 2, 2022 to elect new officers.
The party early on postponed the date for the election due to the chaos that characterised the polling station elections in some areas.
The party had to reschedule its constituency executives’ elections, originally slated for April 24, 2022 to April 28, 2022. It will now be held between April 28, 2022, and May 2, 2022.
The party also says the date for its National Delegates Congress to elect new national officers remains unchanged, that is July 14, 2022, to July 16, 2022.
