Men in Oforikrom, in the Ashanti Region, over the weekend received a significant health boost as they benefited from free prostate cancer screening. The initiative aims to reduce and eliminate the risk of cancer in the area by promoting early detection and timely treatment.
Chief Executive Officer Glitz Africa, Claudia Lumor, who organized the exercise emphasized the importance of raising awareness about prostate cancer, which is increasingly affecting men in Ghana. She stated that the screening event aligns with her ongoing commitment to community development in her native Oforikrom constituency.
The screening attracted a substantial number of participants, particularly elderly men, from both within and outside the constituency. They had access to other essential health screenings for conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes. The initiative was part of the Father’s Day celebration, marking a meaningful occasion for the community.
Health Scheme
Ms Lumor took the opportunity to launch a health scheme designed to assist residents in the area. The scheme aims to improve access to necessary medications for individuals managing health conditions, ensuring they can effectively maintain their well-being.
The launch of the health scheme follows previous successful initiatives organized in the area, particularly for mothers and orphans.
Ms Lumor’s philanthropic efforts have garnered recognition and accolades, including being named one of the 100 Most Influential Women in Ghana and one of the 40 Most Influential Female Leaders in Ghana. She has also been recognized as part of the prestigious 500 Business of Fashion class of 2023.
Through platforms like Ghana Women of the Year Honours and the SHE Summit Mentorship, Ms Lumor celebrates and honors the contributions of Ghanaian women, both indigenous and diaspora.
