Pelangio Exploration Inc, a Canada-based mineral exploration company, has donated an amount of $10,000 to the Apeate Support Fund, established by Government to alleviate the plight of victims of the recent explosion disaster at Apeate.
The contribution by the Exploration firm is to support government’s effort to rebuild the Apeate community as well as provide relief for affected persons.
This donation by Pelangio Exploration Inc follows earlier donations from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Minerals Commission, making Pelangio the third to donate to support the fund.
The donation was made on Monday by the company’s Africa Vice-President, Mr Samuel Torkonoo.
Speaking on behalf of Pelangio Exploration Inc., Mr Torkonoo noted that the gesture was necessary as it would go a long way to provide relief for the people of Apeate, and also motivate other organisations to donate to the fund.
He hoped the donation from his company and others would go a long way to support the livelihood of the people in the community.
Receiving the donation, the chairperson of the Apeate Support Fund, Dr. Joyce Aryee, thanked Pelangio Exploration for its kind gesture.
She also used the opportunity to call on Ghanaians and other benevolent organisations to donate to the fund to achieve the aim of rebuilding the Apeate community.
