Sanity Africa, a Pan-African civil society organization known for its citizen-led governance initiatives, business surveys, and political polling, says that Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong (Ken) is leading among New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for 31st January 2026.
The Phase Three voter intention survey, conducted between October 2025 and January 2026, assessed the preferences of delegates from an expanded voting base of approximately 211,000 members, including former government appointees and past party executives. A weighted sample of 15,000 delegates drawn from all 276 constituencies was selected for the study, conducted at a 99% confidence level with a margin of error of ±5%.
According to the survey, Ken Agyapong leads with 52.0% of delegate support, followed by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at 40.0%. Dr. Bryan Acheampong has 7.0%, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum 0.7%, and ING. Kwabena Agyepong 0.3%. Compared to the Phase Two survey in October 2025, Ken’s support has dipped slightly by 1.1 percentage points, while Dr. Bawumia has gained 1.0 percentage point. Bryan Acheampong continues to grow in popularity with a 2.0-point increase, while Adutwum and Kwabena Agyepong have seen minor declines.
The survey reflects the fluid nature of delegate sentiment, highlighting a competitive race in which campaign strategies, endorsements, regional influence, and candidate messaging are likely to shape outcomes. While Ken retains a clear lead, Dr. Bawumia’s modest recovery and Bryan Acheampong’s rising support underscore the dynamic nature of the contest.
Sanity Africa further notes that this final phase of the survey offers a benchmark for tracking shifts in NPP delegate preferences as the primaries approach.
The findings provide both party members and political observers with a critical snapshot of the evolving internal dynamics of the NPP ahead of its crucial flagbearer elections, which will determine the party’s candidate for the 2028 presidential election.
