Ebenezer Madugu
The Union of African Journalists (UAJ), in collaboration with the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), has nominated award winning Ghanaian journalist Ebenezer Madugu to participate in the 62nd Training Session for Young African Journalists, scheduled to take place in Cairo, Egypt.
The nomination, formally communicated in an official letter, underscores Mr Madugu’s professional competence, track record and suitability for the prestigious continental training programme, which is designed to equip emerging African journalists with advanced skills and a deeper appreciation of ethical and developmental journalism.
Mr Madugu is a journalist with the Tobinco Media Group (TMG), where he works across Atinka Online, Radio and Television. Over the years, he has distinguished himself as a news anchor and reporter with a strong focus on democracy, governance and public accountability, producing stories that interrogate power and amplify issues of national interest.
His nomination comes on the back of his growing reputation within Ghana’s media landscape and his commitment to responsible journalism. Mr Madugu is a recipient of the GJA–Akoto Ampaw Award for Democracy and Good Governance, an honour that recognises journalists who demonstrate exceptional dedication to democratic principles, good governance and professional integrity.
According to the Ghana Journalists Association, Mr Madugu meets the required age criteria for the programme and possesses the skills, discipline and capacity needed to fully benefit from the training while making meaningful contributions to discussions and activities during the session.
The 62nd Training Session for Young African Journalists is expected to bring together a select group of emerging media professionals from across the African continent. The programme aims to enhance participants’ technical and editorial skills, encourage cross border professional networking and promote journalism that supports Africa’s development agenda.
Organisers say the Cairo training session will also provide a platform for young journalists to exchange experiences, learn from seasoned media practitioners and strengthen their understanding of ethical standards in reporting within diverse political and social contexts.
