The newly-elected Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Lower Manya Krobo constituency of the Eastern Region, Emmanuel Nuetey Siakwa, has assured of his commitment to work tirelessly to help the party win the parliamentary seat in the 2024 elections.
Lower Manya Krobo is among one of the few constituencies in the Eastern Region which are yet to produce a Member of Parliament on the ticket of the NPP in this Fourth Republic. Several attempts have been made by the party, especially in the last five general elections, to break this chain, but had not yielded any positive result.
However, Mr Nuetey Siakwa has indicated that despite these awful records, NPP members are still hopeful that they can snatch the seat from the National Democratic Congress in the next election, with unity and hard work.
After the just-ended congress where delegates elected new constituency officers, a new leadership has taken over the mantle, and this new crop of leadership has assured of “charting a path of positivity and humility to listen, and bring everybody on board”.
“Considering the reasons for which we have failed to produce the needed results for about three decades now, the new leaders must incessantly call for an improvement in the motivation factors that would enhance the support base of the party in the constituency,” he said in a statement.
According to him, all the elected executives must humbly reflect on the painful truth that the party’s leadership over the years had not really worked in the best interest of party supporters, hence the failure to annex the parliamentary seat.
He added that the aggressiveness of party members and the executives in the recent congress represent a strong sign of readiness to put in more efforts to prepare the base towards bringing victory in the 2024 general elections.
Elected executives
Mr Emmanuel Nuetey Siakwa, the newly-elected chairman, is a development planner who had been the party’s Research and Election Officer for eight years. He garnered 421 votes out of the 811 valid votes cast.
Other elected officers are Fitzgerald Mate-Kole, First Vice Chairman; Juliana Mamle Matey, Second Vice Chairman; Goldman Awuku Dodzi, Secretary; Joseph Terkper Matey, Assistant Secretary; Michael Sheileshe Mensah, Organizer; Sebastian Asare Boatey, Treasurer; Tawiah Solomon Tetteh, Youth Organizer; Gifty Ambasaki, Women Organizer; and Awudu Abubakar, Nasara Coordinator.
New roadmap
Some delegates were of the view that this new leadership would have no room to complain or give excuses as nothing is expected from them than producing better results and putting the constituency on the pedestal.
“Newly elected constituency officers must pledge to unite all the forces together to form a formidable front to face our opponents who insist that the constituency will continue to remain their ‘World Bank’. To realize this dream, the duty bearers must begin to focus on factors that ought to be implemented to position the constituency towards victory, and eliminate all roadblocks that would inhibit such target,” Mr Nuetey Siakwa said.
