The Vice-Chancellor of Global Youth and Student Commissioner of World Diplomatic Federation (WODIF), Seth Adu-Mensah, has engaged the Ghana Premier League side Aduana FC on plans and projections to make Aduana the sporting capital of Africa.
WODIF is a reputable non-partisan civil society organization, focused on using diplomacy, negotiation, networking and lobbying to ensure that the respective countries they represent enjoy peace and prosperity.
The engagement comes on the back of an invitation from Sports Afrique Internationale to participate in an upcoming sports festival in the United States. Sports Afrique Internationale is a subsidiary of WODIF.
Accompanying him were the Chairman, Board Members and other representatives of WODIF, who also pledged to initiate strategic programmes that would create an enabling environment for the footballers to attract global audience as well as leave a lasting legacy that would be cherished by present and future generations.
The delegation also took turns to speak on three radio stations, namely Dormaa FM, Voice FM and Gift FM, all in Dormaa
Seth Adu-Mensah said his outfit has solid global brands and human resource capable of supporting Aduana FC, as well as using sports events as a vehicle to bring Africans together to share common values through sports.
Programme underway
The WODIF Vice-Chancellor of Global Youth and Student Commissioner further disclosed plans of having a programme in the State, dubbed “US AFRICA CHAMPANIONSHIP FESTIVAL 2023/2024”.
According to organisers of the event, World Diplomatic Federation (WODIF) and its affiliates D.A. Harrison LLC., Sports Afrique Internationale, all is set for the US African Championship Festival scheduled for the US next year.
Indications are that the 2023-2024 event is set to be launched on March 6 at the Red Roof Inn, Atlanta, South Georgia.
Touching on the challenges confronting Ghana sports and how they could be addressed, he said sports development needs perseverance to realise fruitful results.
“Sports development needs perseverance, so notwithstanding the challenges confronting it, we need to develop disciplines in which we have comparative advantage, so that we can use them to develop the others.
“Funding sports is also quite challenging, but with proper mechanisms and strategic planning, we can address the challenges confronting sports for it to generate keen interest among corporate bodies and attract sponsorship,” he indicated.
Charge
Seth Adu-Mensah challenged the administrative machinery of the team to consciously and deliberately identify long lost legends in specific disciplines, and use them as brand ambassadors to market games to make them successful.
He also used the opportunity to encourage the youth, particularly students, on the need for diplomacy and networking at the global level.
“We want to encourage these young people to leverage on this avenue to build their network. This is also an opportunity for those that want to go beyond the borders and foster international partnerships as well,” he said.
He urged them to be trailblazing young African leaders who would shape Africa in their various disciplines, adding that they should explore ways of leading a new way forward as “we chart a course towards a post-pandemic world”.
