The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, has said that the quality of road works and quality of materials being used to construct roads is an improvement of what the country was given to in recent past. This, according to him, is due to President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to building ‘value for money’ projects.
“It is amazing; this is the ‘Year of Roads’, and we are all witnessing it. The level of enthusiasm by the citizenry shows they are so happy because for a very long time they have not had their roads tiled. They are so thankful to the President and the government, and I know they are going to give the President four more years for him to do more,” he said.
Inspection
Mr Darfour said this on Tuesday when he inspected some ongoing road projects in the Eastern Region.
Some of the roads inspected include the Atibie partial reconstruction of the Paragliding road, Phase I & II; the upgrading of Kwahu town roads, Awenade to Aprade to Prankese roads; the partial reconstruction of Nkwantia town roads, Asakraka town roads, Nkawkaw town roads; the rehabilitation of Nkawkaw-Noyem-New Abirem road; and the upgrading of Akoase town roads, all in the Kwahu West district.
Others are the Akyem Akropong, Banso, Awenare town roads, Akropong to Larbikrom road, Akyem Asamang Tamfoe town roads, Kwabeng-Abomosu-Asuom road, also located in the Atiwa East and West districts.
The Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana Highway Authority, Charles Adubofour, indicated that the various road projects and construction of new drains across the region are ongoing in earnest progress.
He indicated that some of the projects are close to completion, adding that they would improve connectivity, accessibility and mobility that meets all user needs.
