The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has observed that a Christian-Muslim leadership at the presidency does magic for Ghana.
According to him, a Christian President and a Muslim Vice-President or otherwise has always proven to be led by the will of the Creator to take Ghana out of misery.
He added that it is this combination, such as that of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, that has chased the International Monetary Fund and their unfavourable conditionalities away from Ghana.
Chairman Wuntumi, as the NPP chairman is popularly known, stated at the Ashanti Regional NASARA campaign launch on Sunday that it is this same combination that has also led to the creation of the Zongo Ministry and the Zongo Development Fund.
Zongos as NPP siblings
He stated that Zongo communities are siblings of the NPP, assuring that the party would do it best to develop such areas.
“Cast your minds back, it was a Muslim and a Christian that led Ghana to a point where a dollar was to a cedis. And great things are happening now that we have a Christian Akufo-Addo and a Muslim Dr Bawumia. Whenever Ghana gets this kind of combination, wonders happen, and this the NPP would do always to ensure a balance,” he noted.
Swearing in members of the campaign team, Mr Antwi Boasiako tasked them to get involved in the agenda 47/47 campaign by helping the party to win the Asokore Mampong, Ejura Sekyeredumase and Asawase seats.
“Work at those constituencies and win. I’ll join you at the constituencies to take what rightfully belongs to Asawase, Drobonso and Ejura. We are taking the seats from the NDC MPs for our own NPP parliamentary candidates in these areas,” Chairman Wuntumi added.
Zongos at heart
The National NASARA Coordinator of the party, Aziz Futa, noted that the Akufo-Addo-led government has done a lot for Zongo communities across the country for which they are grateful.
He said the NPP government has sent some 40 Zongo youth to study in Cuba and has also trained about 500 Zongo youth in apprenticeship since it assumed power.
According to the NASARA Coordinator, the opposition National Democratic Congress did nothing for the Zongos when it was in power for eight years, but “they keep using and dumping us…they’re now considering the Zongo in their manifesto whereas the NPP has done it all for our Zongo.”
“I insist that they don’t like us; they only want our votes, but this time, we have seen the light and the light in Zongo is the NPP,” he stated.
Key members of the the NASARA campaign team include the CEO of Zongo Development Fund, Suleman Arafat; and a Deputy Director at the Jubilee House, Salisu Bamba.
The campaign team comprises a strategic committee, operations committee, advisory committee, social media committee, security committee, prayer warriors committee and others.
